What we purchase
Every grade listed on this site is a grade we buy. If your material does not match a published ISRI or ReMA code, it is still tradeable — we assess it on assay rather than turning it away.
Copper
Millberry bare bright, Berry, Birch, Candy, nodules, cathode, ingot and wire rod.
Aluminium
Taint/Tabor sheet, Toto 6063 extrusion, Troma wheels, Talon wire, Zorba and ingot.
Brass
Honey, Ebony red brass, Night turnings, Lace shell cases, Melon pipe and ingot.
Zinc
Score, Saves and Scabs die-cast, Screen clippings, Seal and Seam galvanizers' dross.
Lead
Racks soft lead, Radio mixed, Rails plates, Rink & Rains batteries, Relay cable.
Stainless Steel
Sabot 304, 316 solids, Ultra turnings, Pekoe 200-series and Zurik shred.
Motors & Mixed Scrap
Electric motors (large, mixed, small, meatballs), starter motors, alternators, sealed units and mixed non-ferrous loads.

02Quotation
Getting a firm price
A quotation takes three things. Send them together and we will come back with a firm figure rather than a range.

Photographs
Photographs of the actual material, taken in daylight, including one wide shot and one close enough to read the surface. This is the single thing that most improves the accuracy of a quotation.

Grade and quantity
The grade if you know it, or a plain description if you do not, together with the tonnage available and whether it is a one-off lot or a recurring arising.

Location and packing
Where the material sits, and how it is presented: loose, baled, in bags, in stillages or already containerised. Both change the freight cost, and therefore the price.
03Worldwide
Selling from outside the United Kingdom
We buy from suppliers across the globe, not only in the UK. Where the quantity makes up a container load, the process is short and there is no need for either side to travel.

Send the details
The grade, the tonnage, photographs of the actual material, and the port you would load from. That is enough for us to price it and to tell you whether the quantity works as a full container.

We quote and nominate the port
If the price is agreed, we confirm the destination port the material should be consigned to, along with the documents the shipment will need.

You ship
You arrange loading and dispatch to that port. The terms of sale are agreed in writing before anything moves, so both sides know what is owed and when.

Payment, and the deal is closed
Payment terms are settled as part of the contract and honoured against the agreed documents. Once they are met, the trade is complete.

Selling scrap metal, explained
How much is my scrap metal worth?
It depends on the grade, the tonnage, where it is and how it is packed. Non-ferrous scrap is priced at a discount to the LME quotation for the underlying metal, and the size of that discount is what a quotation actually decides. Send photographs and a tonnage and we will give you a firm figure rather than a range.
Do you buy small quantities?
Quantity affects the price because it affects the freight cost per tonne, but there is no fixed minimum. Tell us what you have. If a load is too small to move economically on its own, we will say so rather than quote a figure that does not work.
Will you pay cash for scrap metal?
No, and neither may anyone else buying scrap in England and Wales. The Scrap Metal Dealers Act 2013 prohibits cash payment for scrap metal. We settle by bank transfer to an account in the seller's name.
What if I do not know the grade?
Describe the material in plain terms and send photographs. Identifying the grade is our job, not yours, and getting it right is what the specification sheet on this site exists for.
Do you buy from outside the UK?
Yes. We buy non-ferrous scrap and metal from suppliers worldwide. For overseas material we work in container loads, and we confirm the destination port once a price is agreed.
What quantity do you need for an export shipment?
Enough to make up a container load. Send the tonnage you have and we will tell you plainly whether it works as a full container or whether it is better sold locally.
